Lost Cat Reunited with Family After Six Years Apart

Missing Cat Reunited with Family After Six Years

A long-lost cat has been joyfully reunited with her family in Guernsey after six years of surviving on her own.

Lalana, a 13-year-old feline, disappeared in 2019 after getting startled and escaping from her new home in Vale. Despite extensive searches, her family eventually lost hope of finding her.

However, Lalana’s story took a heartwarming turn when animal volunteer Sue Vidamour rescued her from a hedge, where she had been living. A quick scan of her microchip revealed her previous address in Castel, leading to an emotional reunion with the Cozens family.

"You'd think finding someone on Guernsey would be easy," said Hayden Cozens, expressing disbelief at her long disappearance.

Lalana had initially returned to her former home on a farm, where she had once roamed freely. After a brief period of stability, she vanished completely, leaving her family fearing the worst.

She had been surviving by sneaking food from another cat’s bowl. When the homeowner discovered her, they contacted Guernsey Lost and Found Pets, leading to her safe capture.

Found near Grand Havre, a considerable distance from where she went missing, Lalana’s resilience amazed her owners. "I don’t know what she’s been doing all these years, but I don’t think she’s had much human contact," Cozens added.

Now, Lalana is safely indoors, regaining her strength under close supervision. Her family hopes she will settle back into her home and enjoy the comfort she once knew.
